This a good read. The style and ambiance of this book reminds me of the movie Sin City. It just has such a dark feeling to it that you just don't get with most crime novels. There really feels like there's just no hero in the book and I like that. Following Orlovi in his search is just fascinating. I definitely would continue to read more in this trilogy to see how the author takes things.

I really liked this book and the way it is written. You have to pay attention to decipher what is going on but the jumps between Orlovi the to the two detectives who are tracking him and the excerpts from the psychiatric notes from the hospital is such a unique and clever way to use three points of view to weave together the full picture.

It helps build the story despite the unreliable narrator’s and gives you just enough information to keep you turning the pages.

A very intense story with a totally unexpected ending…The story is well written with clearly defined characters. It is not for everyone’s tastes but those who enjoy smart writing and intrigue should enjoy it very much.

A Dark Day in the White City by Neil Randall (The Balkan Trilogy) is an excellently written book, which illustrates the writer’s skills in merging the power of literature with the strength of psychology…the tone and language of the writer are unique: intimate and interior.

A drama/mystery that follows Orlovi as he tries to locate something taken by an ex. As he’s tries to locate the item that was taken, he stops at multiple places to question people. The people at every one of his stops ends up dead. Definitely kept me reading!
